Fees and Charges

Your Fees and Charges are an important contribution to the Care and Accommodation provided by the residence, while the Government co-contributes towards care funding.

These Fees and Charges are determined by Services Australia based on your ability to pay and individual circumstances at time of admission. Each quarter the Department produces a Schedule of Resident Fees and Charges. Your admission options can vary greatly based on your individual circumstances.

Basic Daily Fee

All residents in aged care, including respite residents, are required to pay a Basic Daily Fee as a contribution towards care and living expenses. The daily fee for all residents equates to 85% of the basic single age pension.

Means Tested Care Fee (Income tested Fee)

Residents (other than respite residents) may be asked to pay a care co-contribution fee depending on their income and their assets. The Government sets the amount a resident must pay direct to the aged care provider and reduces the care subsidies paid to the Provider by the same amount. There is a capped annual and lifetime limit, this cap includes payments from community care and home care. This contribution is calculated by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

If entering care after 1^st November 2025, you may be advised of a hotelling contribution and a Non-clinical care contribution determined through this means assessment.

Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)

This is a lump sum payment for accommodation in an aged care home. This is the price of a room, in lump sum form, that residents have agreed to pay with the provider. Residents can pay the RAD in full or they can pay via a combination of a smaller RAD and a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP).

The balance of your lump sum will be returned to you or your estate. This is your total lump sum payment minus retentions and any deductions that you have agreed. Deductions taken from your lump sum could be a (DAP) Daily accommodation payment, daily means test and additional service fee.

All rooms have their own RAD that can be found on the Aegis or My Aged Care websites.

Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)

The DAP is calculated as a daily cost that is charged monthly if the RAD has not been paid in full. The DAP is calculated as a percentage of the remaining RAD.

For example, if the RAD on a room is $400,000 and no RAD is paid, then the customer will pay $83.4 as a DAP (based on the current 7.61% interest rate).

The following formula is used to calculate the DAP: ($400,000 X 7.61%)/365 = $83.4

Please note, in most circumstances, a percentage of the RAD is required as a deposit on the date of entry.

The Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) is indexed twice yearly by Services Australia.

Combination of RAD and DAP

The customer can elect to pay a combination of a RAD and a DAP. For example, on a room with a RAD of $400,000, the customer can pay $100,000 upfront and the remaining $300,000 as a DAP. In this scenario the DAP would be $62.55 per day.

RAD Retentions

Under the new Aged Care Act, where a Resident moves into Permanent Residential Care, on or after the 1^st November 2025, and a Refundable Deposit (RAD/ RAC) is paid, providers will be required to retain a portion of the RAD/ RAC.

A Retention Deduction is calculated daily and billed monthly, at a rate of 2% per annum. This deduction is limited to 5 years to protect residents who remain in care for a long time.

Additional Services - Aegis Advantage & Higher Everyday Living Fee

Aegis Advantage is a bundle of Additional Services that are provided to all our residents in addition to the standard services provided by all aged care providers. Aegis Advantage is only available to residents who entered Care before the 1^st November 2025 with these services remaining in place until no later than the 31^st October 2026.

From 1^st November 2025, the Higher Everyday Living Fee (HELF) is an optional fee for people who choose to receive higher quality everyday living services in permanent or respite residential care. This package can be offered after admission, with a separate agreement from the initial admission agreement.

Higher Everyday Living Services are designed to make every day more enjoyable, from premium dining to social connections, comfort, and entertainment. You can choose the services that matter most to you, or enjoy the complete Aegis Additional Services package for the same cost as dining alone.

Government contributions

The Government provides care subsidies to ensure all residents receive the same standard of care in the residence.

Resident Agreement

A Resident Agreement protects both parties by formalising arrangements upon admission. The agreements need to be accepted and signed before or on the day of entry into a new residence.

Monthly Statements

Regular statements
Statements are issued early in each month and relate to the full month.

Direct debit transfer
Direct Debit is the preferred method of payment given it is processed mid-month normally from the account into which any pension is paid.

Other payment methods
We can offer Centrepay bill paying service, direct from pension payments. We accept Bank Transfer and Cheque payments. We are not able to provide Credit Card or BPAY payment facilities.
